Assessing the benefits of 50/50 child custody

When it comes to constructing a child custody arrangement, Pennsylvania residents need to think about the overall well-being of their children. One of the most commonly used types of physical custody is called a 50/50 custody arrangement. This has many benefits for both the parents and the children involved.

What is a 50/50 custody arrangement?

50/50 child custody, also referred to as joint custody, is when both parents spend an equal amount of time with a child. Courts typically use the number of nights that a child spends with each parent as a gauge for the type of custody that they have. In the event of a 50/50 child custody arrangement, each parent will be spending half of the year with their child.

Access to both parents

Judges always want to make some sort of arrangement where the child can spend time with both parents if that is possible or feasible. This is assuming that both parents are safe for the children to be around. With a 50/50 custody arrangement, the child will be able to develop a relationship with both parents. This helps them to foster better mental health and overall well-being as they grow up.

Mental rest breaks for parents

Parenting is a tough job, and it can get overwhelming from time to time. A 50/50 child custody arrangement allows for both parents to have necessary mental rest periods when the child goes with the other parent. This allows both parents to refresh in their off time so that when they get their child back, they're more prepared to mentally and emotionally handle them.

The 50/50 child custody arrangement has been around for a long time and for good reason. This allows a child to develop relationships with both of their parents and ensures that their parents are mentally prepared to handle them. If you're currently going through a divorce, you may want to consider a 50/50 child custody arrangement due to the various benefits it can provide.
